Privacy Policy
Brain Unlock is an iOS Screen Time app that helps create a thoughtful pause before protected apps open. A user completes short thinking challenges before receiving temporary access to apps selected in setup.
Local-first design
The current version of Brain Unlock is local-first. We do not operate a backend account system, and the app does not intentionally transmit your app settings or challenge activity to Brain Unlock servers. Subscription purchases are processed by Apple and RevenueCat as described below.
Information stored on your device
Brain Unlock stores the following information locally on the device:
- Access PIN using iOS SecureStore / Keychain-backed storage
- PIN lockout state used to slow repeated incorrect attempts
- Control settings, including challenge count, unlock timing, categories, and difficulty
- Temporary unlock session state, including whether access is open and when it expires
- Local challenge summaries, such as correct answers, unlocks earned, and recent daily totals
- Apple Screen Time / FamilyControls app-selection token used to apply app shielding
Information we do not collect
The current version of Brain Unlock does not intentionally collect, sell, share, or transmit:
- Child name
- Email address or phone number
- Precise location
- Contacts
- Photos or microphone recordings
- Browsing history or the contents of other apps
- Advertising identifiers
- Backend behavioral analytics events unrelated to subscription status
Screen Time and FamilyControls
Brain Unlock uses Apple's Screen Time and FamilyControls APIs so apps can be shielded, temporarily unshielded after successful challenges, and shielded again when the access window ends. Brain Unlock does not receive a user's full Screen Time history.
Tracking and advertising
Brain Unlock does not include advertising, cross-app tracking, data broker sharing, or third-party analytics SDKs for app behavior. RevenueCat is used only for subscription entitlement checks and subscription analytics.
Subscriptions
Brain Unlock uses Apple in-app purchases and RevenueCat to manage Brain Unlock Pro subscriptions. Apple processes payments. Brain Unlock does not receive or store credit card numbers, bank account details, or other raw payment credentials.
RevenueCat may process subscription purchase history and entitlement status so Brain Unlock can confirm whether Brain Unlock Pro is active, unlock paid access after purchase or restore, and understand subscription state for app functionality and subscription analytics. Brain Unlock does not use this data for advertising tracking, does not sell it to data brokers, and does not use it for cross-app tracking.
Reinstalling the app
Some local security data, such as the access PIN, may survive app deletion and reinstall on the same device because iOS SecureStore uses Keychain-backed storage. Apple Screen Time permission may also remain approved at the system level.
